The Providence Journal had a good summary of today's briefing.
No press briefing
895766 cases and 50439 deaths -- The daily listing of numbers of cases and deaths on the CDC website moved to a new page (or at least I found CDC Covid Data Trcker today), and much more information is now available. There are many breakouts of the data. In comparison, today on Covid Tracking Project as of 11:13 pm, there were 931698 positive cases, and 47980 deaths. Some newspaper reports are saying 51000 deaths, and there is good reason to believe the numbers are much higher. The Stat website has 936616 total cases and 53,694 deaths. It is impossible to have accurate numbers during the thick of things in a pandemic. Nevertheless, give or take a few thousand, it's the highest number of cases and deaths in the world. What a tragic achievement. Some people would inevitably die, but not this many in the -- supposedly -- leading nation in the world. This is not how I want the US to lead.
