We Rhode Islanders have organized ourselves into more than one thousand nonprofit, community, and governmental entities that specifically take care of our nautral environment in one way or another. That doesn't count farms (about 1250 or so of those), or landscaping and other specifically "green" businesses (another couple of thousand).
It should be easier to find out who does what, but many of the existing groups are under the radar ~ Google searches do not produce comprehensive, accurate results. The Providential Gardener aims to collect and index basic information about all kinds of groups that impact our natural environment ~ quite a daunting task, because when you think about it, really EVERYBODY impacts our natural environment. What you'll find in the Directory for the foreseeable future is just the tip of the iceberg.
