- Tracking the Incidence of Covid-19 in RI for summaries of updates from RI.gov press releases
- Table of Comparison of WHO Data concerning Italy and US Cases
- US Federal Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Notes which are currently incomplete. Organizing the tsunami of info coherently is something of a challenge.
54 total cases in RI. Ages pediatric to 70s. 4 female, 6 male, all recovering at home. 1 had traveled to Estonia and another to NJ. The full RI National Guard is activated (some have been working for a few weeks); federal and state tax deadline moved to July 15, but pay if possible so state has as much revenue as possible. Governor stressed mental health support available. Still a shortage of swabs, so testing 100-200/day. [Note: Azar said in the press conference on this date (link is below) that he had no trouble finding 200,000 swabs on the market. So there is a disconnect somewhere, It may have to do with some solution the swabs must be coated with.] Want to get to 500-600/day to get an idea of what situation actually is. RI medical supply donations website is getting offers of help.

Delays in ramping up testing are a huge obstruction to, as Governor Raimondo says, "putting a lid" on this virus. This is the responsibility of the federal government to organize. Making the governors of all the states spend time on something as relatively simple as swabs in this crisis is a colossal waste of their time in my opinion. SK
Tax filing deadline extended to July 15. Suspending student loan interest and penalties for 60 days. Tremendous emphasis on border security. Yes, everyone is controling borders. Individuals under 19 seem to recover. Procuring, allocating medical supplies, N95 masks, and ventillators (20,000 in stockpile). Postpone elective procedures. Threat to average American remains low, but put into practice the president's 15 day guidelines. January 3 was the first notice to America of the virus [although WHO China Country Office was notified by China of pneumonia cases of unknown cause on December 31]. Conclusion of press conference: this administration inherited a broken system and now it is working well.
